Ravenclaw House Harry Potter Lexicon

One digitally inserts guests onto the back of a broomstick and another makes it seem like they are in the crowd at a Quidditch match. First they decide whether to root for the heroic Gryffindor team or support their evil rivals Slytherin. Then a director tells them to duck, gossip, cheer or boo as they would if they were actually sitting in the bleachers. After that the cameras start rolling and the footage is edited into a sequence from the Potter films. Instead, spotlights hang from the rafters on the tour as they do on the actual set making the experience seem even more authentic. Discovery has revealed that it spent more than $114.9 million (£92.9 million) on its latest attraction themed to the boy wizard Harry Potter.

If you're a Hufflepuff, you probably have a deep sense of empathy and compassion for the people around you, and consistently look out for the underdog. They're more three-dimensional than people give them credit for because as much as Slytherins care about their goals, they're also incredibly loyal to the people they love, they're resourceful, and they're dedicated. If you're a part of this house, then you're independent and value originality. Ravenclaws are curious and intuitive, which make them excellent problem solvers because they're never afraid to try new things or approach a situation in a unique way. If you're a Gryffindor, you're not afraid of embracing a challenge, or taking risks. This Harry Potter house is also known for its bravery, leadership, and chivalry, and its members make excellent friends because they're loyal til the end, or until they're given an important reason not to be.

In Deathly Hallows, the students who need a place to hide from the Carrows, two Death Eater professors, use the room. It is also revealed that the Room of Requirement's current version can change while still occupied, though should a completely different version be required (e.g. the Room of Hidden Things instead of DA Headquarters) the room must be empty. The Room can also answer to the desire of the wizard within the room, such as providing Harry with a whistle when he needed one during a Dumbledore's Army meeting, or creating a passage to the Hog's Head (as the room cannot produce food). Later, Ravenclaw's diadem is found to be one of Voldemort's Horcruxes and has been hidden in the Room of Hidden Things by Voldemort. Harry, Ron, and Hermione enter the Room, with Harry knowing that he must look for a place to hide things, and find the tiara; but they are ambushed by Draco, Crabbe and Goyle.

The Chamber of Secrets, which is deep under the school (most likely under the lake),[21] was home to an ancient Basilisk, intended to be used to purge the school of Muggle-born students. Salazar Slytherin, one of the founders of Hogwarts, built the Chamber before he left the school. For even more serious offences, students may be suspended or even expelled from Hogwarts.

As Jensen points out, construction and training for the tour took place during the pandemic. Visitors get to watch it on a big screen and even get to take the footage away as a digital souvenir thanks to the tour's partnership with Nasdaq-listed specialist theme park photography provider Pomvom. There are no rides on the tour but some of the exhibits are almost as exhilarating.

Hogwarts Houses

After being asked by Rowena to go find her daughter and bring her back to Hogwarts, The Baron finds Helena, but she refuses to return to Hogwarts. In an episode of rage that ended up killing his loved one and filled with remorse, The Baron used the same weapon to take his own life. After his death, the Slytherin ghost was titled The Bloody Baron since they were soaked in blood (his own blood and Helena Ravenclaw’s). The Slytherin house is the Hogwarts house that has sprung the darkest wizards. However, that does not mean that all Slytherins are dark wizards or evil, which will vary on a person-to-person basis. To get into the tower, you need to answer a riddle asked by the bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle at the door.

Andromeda was related to many dark witches and wizards, such as her own sister Bellatrix Lestrange, and brother-in-law Lucius Malfoy, but she chose to forsake the loyalty to her family in favour of marrying the Muggle-born Ted Tonks. The entrance to the Gryffindor common room (which, in turn, lead to the Gryffindor dormitories) is located behind a large painting of a Fat Lady in a pink silk dress. If you know the right password to tell her, she swings open to reveal a round opening in the wall. The common room contains a lot of squashy armchairs, a fireplace, and tables. The fireplace is connected to the Floo Network, but as it is extremely public except in the dead of night, Gryffindors usually use owls to communicate with their families instead. There's also a notice board, for public announcements such as the date of the next Hogsmeade weekend, but also for notices from individual students seeking to buy or sell secondhand books, or trade Chocolate Frog cards, or similar, as in any school.

In Deathly Hallows, a group of Snatchers claim that "not many Mudbloods" are sorted into Slytherin. The Slytherin dormitories and common room are reached by speaking a password to a patch of bare stone wall in the dungeons, which causes a hidden door to open. The Slytherin common room is a long, low, dungeon-style room, under the Hogwarts Lake, furnished with green lamps and carved armchairs.

They pull a basilisk fang from its skeleton to use to destroy the Horcrux made from Helga Hufflepuff's cup. From there, first-year students are accompanied by the "Keeper of the Keys, Game and Grounds" (which was Rubeus Hagrid during the first novel) to small boats, which magically sail across the lake and get them near the entrance of Hogwarts. The older students ride up to the castle in carriages pulled by creatures called Thestrals. When the first-year students initially arrive at the castle, they wait in a small chamber off the entrance hall until the older students have taken their seats, and then enter the Great Hall for the Sorting Ceremony to determine their House assignments. The yearly house cup competition is underway as players compete in challenges of wizardry to achieve success.

Dumbledore argued in Harry's defence, stating that it was done in self-defence, and that the Ministry has no authority to expel students – such powers are invested in the Headmaster and the Board of Governors. Snape has attempted to have Harry expelled, and he attempted to have Harry's father, James Potter, expelled when they were at Hogwarts together. The only student known to have been expelled is Hagrid, for the murder of Myrtle with an acromantula believed to be the Monster of Slytherin and for opening the Chamber of Secrets – crimes for which Tom Riddle had framed him. According to the school caretaker, Argus Filch, detention meant subjection to various forms of corporal punishment until recently. Arthur Weasley claimed still to bear physical scars inflicted by Apollyon Pringle, Filch's predecessor.

Rowling as ‘reminiscent of a badger’s sett’.The cozy, round, low-ceilinged room has a very cheerful decoration with shades of yellow and black and lots of plants. Over the wooden mantelpiece, there is a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff toasting her students with a small two-handled golden cup. The common room windows are just level with the ground of the castle, giving the sensation of barely being underground. A wide, circular room with arched windows where blue and bronze silks hung, with a large midnight blue carpet covered in stars that are reflected onto the domed ceiling, Ravenclaw’s common room is one of the airiest of the four house common rooms. By the door leading to the dormitories, there is a tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw made of white marble.

They enter the tower by giving a password to the Fat Lady, a portrait. The common room is a circular room with a fireplace, tables, and large armchairs and sofas. Two staircases lead to the boys and girls dormitories, though if a boy tries to climb the stairs to the girls' rooms the entire staircase will turn into a slide. The four houses each represent a different type of student that attends Hogwarts and the different ideals of the four Hogwarts founders. Some houses are more popular than others, and some have better reputations, but the houses give every student at the wizarding school a home away from home and a group of people that are similar to them.

There appears to be a good relationship between the school and the village, and the students get on well with the locals. The dormitories are in Ravenclaw Tower, on the west side of Hogwarts. The common room is round and filled with blue hangings and armchairs, has a domed ceiling painted with stars and features a replica statue of Rowena wearing her diadem. Harry also notes that Ravenclaws "have a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains".

For years, Hogwarts, its founders, and all students lived in property and peace; however, it didn’t last forever. One of the founders, Salazar Slytherin, had a very strong belief that Hogwarts should only be a place for pure-blood wizards and witches. The other founders did not share the same ideas, believing that all wizards and witches should have the opportunity to attend Hogwarts despite their heritage.

Talisman is a 40-year-old fantasy adventure game that has endured across many editions and spinoffs. This Harry Potter-themed Talisman is a recent release that takes this well-worn engine and iterates upon the core nicely. It infuses a sense of wonder by having players pursue a meeting with Lord Voldemort at the center of the board. A key twist on the Talisman formula is the affiliation system, aligning players with either the Order of the Phoenix or the Death Eaters. As players race through encounters and gain experience, they will either greet Lord Voldemort and present him with one of the Deathly Hallows, or confront him with courage and might.

Perhaps the only aspect of the UK tour which isn't as enchanting as the rest of it is the dining on the way. There's no problem with the food or drink, which of course includes Potter's favorite tipple of Butterbeer, a non-alcoholic beverage flavored like cream soda and butterscotch. However, the setting seems jarring as the dining area is designed like a studio backlot cafe which, ironically, fits the theme too well.
